Aloha. I'm headed out on a research cruise beginning Saturday September 13, 2014. I'll be part of a team that does regular science north of 'O'ahu, where they've been monitoring the ocean (especially carbon dioxide and acidity) for many years. I'm tagging along to volunteer, and with an eye toward developing an oceanography course in the next years. I'll be blogging here about life and science on board a research ship. I'll welcome your comments and questions. You are welcome to leave comments here on the blog or email me at pkassis@hpa.edu.
The HPA lower school students (and a few upper school students) have been helping me prepare for the cruise by coloring foam heads (wig models). I'm excited to send them to the abyss and see how they look when they come back on board. I'll be sure to include lots of before and after pictures!

Super cool!! Not the biggest fan of boats unless they keep moving and keep moving fast. May you have a wonderful trip and learn a lot! Many blessings!
Have a great adventure. I look forward to all that you will have to share through the blog and when you're back on dry land.
